Project SAFE: Learning self-advocacy to move out of poverty

Projectsafe1 In partnership with the Domestic Violence Unit of the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and Harbor Communities Overcoming Violence (COV), IMPACT works in family homeless shelters throughout the state. Shelter-based classes teach physical self-protection, economic literacy, and verbal deescalation skills. Classes also give shelter residents the opportunity to practice advocating for themselves in scenarios critical to achieving financial success.

Project SAFE graduates have the opportunity to do paid internships in the offices of IMPACT, Harbor COV, and Homes for Families. All interns work with Triangle to define their career goals and find permanent employment.
